Adam Scott in Focus
Adam Scott was born on 16 July 1980, Adelaide, South Australia. He moved with his family to Queensland at the age of 9. He attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Being a member of the Golf Australia National Squad he won the Australian Boys Amateur Championship in 1997 and 1998.
After some really impressive performances on the 200 European tour, Adam Scott turned professional in the 2000 season. He also earned his membership for the 2001 European Tour in just eight starts. Though he appeared in many PGA Tour events, he could make the cut in one among the six events. 2001 proved lucky for him, his golfing career took off. This was his first year and he went on to win the European Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Championship in Johannesburg. He defeated established professional golfer Justin Rose to the first position by just one stroke. He finished 13th in the Order of Merit in the first season. In 2002, the first win of the year was at the Qatar Maters. He made his debut in the Masters Tournament, where he finished tied 9th.;
On January 2007, he finished at the second place in the Mercedes-Benz Championship take took him to the 3rd rank of the Official World Golf Ranking. Adam Scott has held his position among the top 10 golfers for over 220 weeks. He has had 21 professional golf wins. He has won 9 PGA Tour wins including the 2013 Masters Tournament, 9 European Tour wins, 4 Asian Tour wins, 1 Sunshine Tour win and 3 PGA Tour of Australia wins. At the 2013 Masters Tournament, he won the title by defeating Angel Cabrera. He sort of redeemed his failure at the 2012 Open Championship. This victory secured him the 3rd position in the Official World Golf Rankings.
