Charles Howell misses US Augusta Masters cut

Charles Howell III really had bitter-sweet feelings after he failed to secure a position in this year’s US Masters event when he lost to his fellow compatriot Brian Gay in a 3-way playoff at the Humana Challenge event on Sunday.

Charles Howell, who is looking for his very 1st PGA tour title in the last 6 years, narrowly missed a 5–foot birdie putt for a win in regulation play, and after that he bogeyed the 2nd extra hole to hand Brian Gay the win.

While speaking to reporters, the Augusta-born golfer couldn’t hide his disappointment. He wanted to get back into the US Masters, and this is the thought which crossed his mind. “It is so darn hard to win out there and when one does have a scpre to do it, this is really painful to let it slip by like this.” But once they got to the playoff, he thought of it as a sort of 3-man race for a spot in the US Masters.

After 17 holes Howell was favourite to win the title and the crucial Masters spot according to the Unibet Betting site. He was being well backed by fans on the online betting site, all the way up until his final slip on the second play-off hole.

PGA Tour winners automatically gets spots at the Augusta National for US Masters, the first major event of the year. And Charles fell short after he as well as Swede golfer David Lingmerth were whipped by Brian Gay in a playoff. However, Howell was really promoted by his last round of 8-under-par sixty four on another almost-perfect day.
