Kaymer Back in Action
Martin Kaymer missed the European Tour and had a missed cut at the PGA Championship. Now he is back in action at the KLM Open. Right from the start he looked promising when he hit five birdies. He also recorded a wonderful eagle at the first round.
The ex-world number one tied for the second place on the leaderboard after a blazing start with a five-under par 65. Graeme Storm secured the first spot after the round and Kaymer was just two shots behind him.
The other two players who joined Kaymer on the leaderbord were Fabrizio Zanotti and Raphael Jacquelin. Zanotti was the lone player who recorded a bogey-free session. Martin Kaymer is having a great time of late as he secured his place in the European Ryder Cup team as the last automatic choice. After skipping some tournaments lately, he is eager to prove his caliber at the KLM Open.
After the round Kaymer told that he was happy with the day’s performance. Now he wants to put up a show as good as possible. He is targeting the Ryder Cup right now and for that he wants his confidence to be sky high. Although Kaymer himself asserted that he was not having the greatest of touches but he is sure of getting it back soon.
The European Ryder Cup skipper Jose Maria Olazabal and Nicolas Colsaerts joined Kaymer as a group at the KLM Open and at the end of the round Olazabal seemed pretty happy with Kaymer’s performance. As Olazabal stated it was a pleasure to see his players in the pick of their forms and he wants his players to sustain that form till September 30, when the Ryder Cup ends.
Martin Kaymer confesses that Olazabal exchanged a few words with him and told him to carry on his natural game. Kaymer is all set to have a go at the Ryder Cup and before that he wants a good result at the KLM Open to keep his momentum going.
